Digg VS Netscape

After Netscapes massive launch of a Digg Clone time has now come to analyse the pros and cons of Digg and Netscape.. Well to tell about the traffic these two sites recieve on a daily basis, Netscape has an audience much much more than Digg has currently. Digg is one of the most interesting cultural experiments occuring on the web right now and the Netscape product is a soulless reproduction of digg..

I was just reading this post on Jason Calacanis’s blog (the guy who runs Netscape) and something really tells me that Netscape is trying something desperate here.. Jason has made an open offer to Digg community saying that Netscape would give 1000$ to the top diggers if they submitted their stories on Netscape rather than Digg. What I feel here is that Netscape is trying too hard to get audience for its new venture..

But even if the top Digg users leave Digg there will be others who would come and take their seats. I think the content on Digg is of Excellent quality and therefore it might not make a huge differance if top Diggers leave Digg.. Soon After Jason’s Announcement on his blog about the money being given to top Diggers a Profile of a Digg User went up for sale today on ebaY. I think just because of the foolishness of Netscape we might see more spam users on Digg and in return the biggest Social Blog on earth becomes bad..

Well I think Netscape has a very strange idea..” If you can’t build a community, buy one  “.. Seems pretty intresting, lets see how far does Netscape go..
