So Here is the technique. The trick here is to simply setup a redirection mechanism and do some other stuff with the link so that it not only becomes Search Engine Friendly but also Reader Friendly… I Know that even a simple HTTP Redirection would suffice but they are bit ugly when viewed..

So if you were to use simple HTTP Redirection your link would like http://yourname.com/affiliate_name.html instead of the affiliate link that looked like this http://affiliate.com/aff-id?=1234 and stuff like that..

I don’t think they are very bad but they are at least not better than a link like this http://yourname.com/affiliate_name . See the change that missing .html makes all the difference, it makes your affiliate links look more like a part of your site than an affiliate link.

But remember using this technique can be tricky at times so make sure to double check everything before you make any changes. So if you are running Apache on your web server then here are the steps for you..

• PART – 1 (to impress your visitors)

1. Find and Open the .htaccess file from the main directory
2. Add the following code to your .htaccess right at the end of it and watch things happen as you go by..
   
   Redirect temp /affiliate_name http://affiliate.com/aff-id?=1234

   replacing affiliate_name with text of your choice and http://affiliate.com/aff-id?=1234 with your affiliate url. Take care that the whole statement is in the same line.. Save the file and go on..

So you now have a affiliate link that looks like this http://yourname.com/affiliate_name . Test this link and see if it redirects properly. If it does then, voila you are now ready to go the next step…

Repeat as necessary and you can have many affiliate links on your site as you want without ever getting disqualified..

• PART – 2 (to pamper the search engines)

Well this an important step and rightly said because Search Engine Rank is important to every blog owner like me.. Now that you have user friendly Affiliate url’s you just need to spice it up a bit to have the search engines saluting you..

Your new affiliate link looks something like http://yourname.com/affiliate_name. Well in the language of HTML (the one that the web speaks) it looks more like Affiliate Name . Well this is the thin bones version of what you need..

You just need to spice up that code, to make it a bit more easy for the search engines. Just modify the above code to something like this Affiliate Name . Notice that extra REL=”nofollow“ ! Well this is what tells the search engines not worry about your affiliate links and just ignore them..

Just remove the stars (*) in the code.. !! (Because WordPress was causing me headaches)

So you see, this was not as difficult as you expected it to be.. So try it out on your blog today and see if it makes a difference. And if it does then remember to thank me with a tiny link or a sweet nice comment..

To tell you onething seeing the huge jump in my Alexa traffic rank from somewhere around 1,300,000 it now swings between 50000-100000 everyday. I am really working hard on this as I need to maintain a fine balance between my School ( I am only 17 years old for that matter), My Social Life and ofcourse 33Rockers, added to that I work on a Comp with a dial up connection.

Very soon I plan to release a plugin for wordpress that I hope will be much more popular than Fauxed is at the moment. I am also busy with a theme for WordPress called quickSlvr and I am also being flooded with requests to Widgetise Fauxed. To tell all those Fans of Fauxed let me tell you that I will be very soon widgetising Fauxed.. I am currently fixing some bugs in Fauxed and trying to make it Valid XHTML and CSS.

At this milestone I would like to thank all the people who have come here to 33Rockers.. Thanks a lot my dear audience and I Promise I will publish more interesting stuff in the near future.. Just to let you know that I have now distribute my feeds through Feedburner…

• Livesearch is the Way to Go!

  I think google already has a kind of livesearch in Google Suggest but that serves no purpose. I think we can all type what we are looking for and we don’t need the computers help. But what Google should really do is use a differant kind of livesearch.
  
  A Livesearch that does not suggest keywords to the user, but a Livesearch that fetches the results in real time.. This will make people really love Google more than they do now, simply because they don’t need to see a new page for a every search query they type in, but instead they will get into a mode called Search Addiction. What i mean by search addiction is that they will search more than before and will try to get the best result more often. Well this naturally translates into more money for Google and much better searching experience for the users. I think that is a win-win situation to be in..

• Spice up the Ads!

  This is one drastic change they need to do. They need to make ads much more like content. For a very good example on this see the ads that Digg displays from Adsense. They will need to make the ads to blend with the content and entice the users to click on them. Doing this has its own advantages, first of all the users won’t think about the ads actually being ads but rather they will see them as content so they will never say that Google is trying to make money and more importantly this translates into more money for Google for doing almost nothing.

• Make the Users Powerful!

  Oflate I have seen Google throwing some really stupid results in the top 10. I think this will bring down the reputation of Google in the longrun. I think Google needs to realise that quantity is not everything but quality is.. Google needs a massive clean up of its database and weed out the crap stuff and this will help in the longrun. And most important is to make the users powerful! Ideally i would like to see a small frame on the top of the page when the user click the search result asking him if the page is Good or Bad.. This small bit of human element in Google search will help Google deliver much better results..

• A Redesign!

  Google definately needs a redesign of its homepage and the search results page. I would like to see an elegant and pleasing design like the one MSN search has.. This one change will see Google’s earnings skyrocket in a couple of days and would further enhance its reputation as the Search major. While this is the easiest thing they can do but they will need to work hard to develop a functional design. Coupling of the important functions like advanced search into an Ajax shelf will again make the work of the users easier.

To conclude this article i would like to say something that i just whipped up , “It is not always the Beast that wins, but it is always Beauty and the Beast that wins…” A Lovely new homepage coupled with some really nice features on the search front will make a mark in the history of the Web that Google was the best ever innovator..

Installation Instructions

Installation of fauxed is like any other wordpress theme..

• Download the zip file from here
• extract and open the fauxed directory
• open topside.php and edit the about text
• open header.php to edit the navigation links
• open shorts.php and edit your asides category
• open home.php and again edit your asides category
• upload the files and plugins to wp-content/themes/ and wp-content/plugins and activate the theme and the plugins
